James Cook

Captain James Cook was born on the 27th of October in the year of 1728 and died on the 14th of February in the year of 1779 in Hawaii. Cook was an English explorer, cartographer and navigator, who rose to the level of the Captain in the Royal Navy. He was the first to draw the map of the Newfoundland before making three voyages to the Pacific Ocean. During these voyages he received the first European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands as well as the first known circumnavigation of New Zealand.

The brilliant Works of James Cook made him one of the best Map Makers of Modern Era. His career started with the British merchant navy, after which he shifted to the Royal Navy in the year of 1755. Witnessing the action in the Seven Years' War, Cook researched and mapped the entrance to the Saint Lawrence River. With accuracy Cook pointed out many areas and recorded Europe's several islands and coastlines, which were not known before.
