Max Eckert-Greifendorff

Max Eckert-Greifendorff was a map theorist and a German geographer. He is well known one of the leading cartographers. He studied Economics and Geography in Leipzig and graduated with the thesis 'The problem carts. History of its solution' in 1895. He worked as a lecturer since 1900 and became a professor of cartography and economic geography between 1907 and 1937. 'The Card Science' is one of the masterpiece of Max Eckert-Greifendorff. It is considered to be a milestone in cartography. He is also known for developing six new map projections that immensely enriched the field of map making.

Max Eckert-Greifendorff died in 1938 at the age of 70. He was buried in Loebau in Saxony.
